Assumption University’s religious expert John Cappucci has launched a study into the state of the Jewish community in Windsor-Essex.
“You really don’t hear much about the Jewish community here,” said Cappucci who is the university’s Stephen A. Jarislowsky Chair in Religion and Conflict. “That’s the whole point of the study.”
As far as Cappucci can tell, the last close look at the local community was a historical book by Rabbi Jonathan Plaut. ‘The Jews of Windsor’ covered 200 years of history from 1790-1990.
Plaut served as the Rabbi for Temple Beth El in Windsor from 1970-1984.
